THERE’S a new place to find bargain goods in Barry and it’s conveniently located next to a recycling centre.

A brand-new reuse shop has officially opened next to Barry’s recycling centre in Atlantic Trading Estate.

The shop is aimed at breathing new life into pre-loved furniture, sports equipment, bric-a-brac and much more while raising vital funds for local charity.

It will also helps reduce waste going to landfill.

The Enfys Foundation, which helps people in desperate need of furniture, in partnership with Vale Council and FCC Environment – who run the recycling centre on behalf of the council, opened the shop.

It stocks all kinds of items, from furniture suites to bicycles and kitchen appliances to children’s toys.

Organisers say the joint project aims to provide quality products at a fraction of the price of buying new while being a positive step towards a circular economy for the Vale.

The shop also has a master taylor to help get clothes and other fabrics repaired.

It’s currently run by three staff and two volunteers.

Samira Jeffreys, CEO of the Enfys Foundation said: “We are thrilled to have expanded into the Vale of Glamorgan and would like to thank our partners FCC Environment and the Vale of Glamorgan Council in getting this shop open.

“Our main goal as a charity is to support individuals and families struggling with furniture poverty across Neath Port Talbot and Swansea, and now we can provide the same support across the Vale of Glamorgan, which is great news.”

Vale Council councillor Mark Wilson, said: “It’s really important for us to have this reuse facility because we want to encourage people to reuse things rather than them going to landfill or even to be recycled.

“It’s great that people can donate items to be reused which may help other people in the community who may be struggling due to the cost of living crisis.”

Toby Goodwin, FCC Environment’s Reuse project coordinator added: “The new Reuse Shop at Barry HWRC provides a great opportunity for residents to save some money whilst revamping their homes and gives back to a charity that is doing important work in the community.”

The shop is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30am until 4:30pm, there is no need to book in before visiting and there is plenty of parking available.
