CARS are congregating at a Barry car park causing noise nuisance and speeding.

Harbour Road car park is being blighted by anti-social behaviour.

South Wales Police say vehicles are congregating in the car park at night and being driven at speed.

Vale Council said on their enforcement page on X, formally Twitter, that they are working with police to tackle the anti-social behaviour and the car park will now closed from 10pm to 8am.

The council's statement on X went: "We’re working with South Wales Police to investigate anti-social behaviour at Harbour Road car park.

"To prevent inappropriate vehicle use and noise disturbance, the car park will be now be closed from 10pm -8am, we will be increasing patrols, and using CCTV to identify those responsible."

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "We have received reports of vehicles congregating in the car park at night, being driven at speed and causing a noise nuisance.

"As the car park will now be closed at 10pm, we hope that there will be no further issues.

"However, the local Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to regularly patrol the area and Section 59 notices will be issued to anyone driving a vehicle in a manner which causes nuisance or inconvenience to other road users or members of the public.

"Section 59 of the Road Traffic Act allows the police to give drivers a warning if they are reported to have used their vehicle in a manner which causes 'alarm, distress or annoyance'.

"Anyone who commits further breaches after receiving a Section 59 notice risks having their vehicle seized.

"One driver in Harbour Road car park was issued with a section 59 notice last week.

"We encourage the public to report incidents and concerns by one of the following means."
