SIX venues across the Vale of Glamorgan have been named as the top romantic retreats for 2024.
Llanerch Vineyard Hotel, Cosy Cinema in Dinas Powys, hide at St Donats, Home James Sommerin and Holm house in Penarth, along with The Bear Hotel in Cowbridge are known as the top romantic and countryside retreats for 2024.
With Valentine’s Day approaching, one of these venues would be the perfect place to spend that all-important alone time with your partner. Here is what couples can expect at each venue:
Llanerch Vineyard - Hensol
Llanerch Vineyard is the UK’s first vineyard hotel and offers romantic balcony rooms that are designed with couples in mind. These rooms come equipped with super king-size beds, fluffy robes, and a view of unspoiled rolling fields that can be enjoyed while cuddling up on the balcony. Llanerch Vineyard is also home to an award-winning restaurant and award-winning wine, with rooms starting at £120 per night.
The Cosy Cinema – Dinas Powys
The Cosy Cinema is another romantic venue that is perfect for couples. It boasts a cosy atmosphere, with comfortable seating, blankets, and a wide selection of films to choose from. The venue also serves food and drinks for the ultimate movie-watching experience.
The pods can be rented for either a three-hour slot or an overnight stay. Booking costs £55 for three hours, while overnight stays start at £138.
The Hide at St Donats – St Donats
The hide at St Donats is a luxurious and secluded retreat that is perfect for couples seeking privacy and relaxation. Each hideaway comes equipped with a hot tub, outdoor shower, and a wood-burning stove, making it the perfect place to escape and unwind.
Two nights in the Shepherd's hut or the cabins start at £220, while both Pavilion and Walden Lodge start at £300.
Home James Sommerin - Penarth
Home James Sommerin is a renowned Michelin-starred restaurant that offers a romantic and intimate dining experience. The menu features seasonal ingredients and is expertly prepared by award-winning chefs.
For £115 per person, you can enjoy a one-hour demonstration from James and his daughter Georgia, followed by a four-course lunch with wine pairings.
Holm House – Penarth
Holm House is a boutique hotel on Millionaires’ Row that offers stunning views of the Bristol Channel. The hotel's rooms are elegantly decorated and come equipped with luxurious amenities, making it the perfect romantic getaway that even Harry Styles approves of.
The starting price for a room at Holm House is £130 per night.
