A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after police were called to reports of a crash on the A4232 near Cardiff.

South Wales Police were called to reports of a collision on the northbound A4232 towards Leckwith at 1.15pm this afternoon, Thursday, January 4.

The driver, a woman was taken to hospital for a precaution after her car left the carriageway and landed in some trees in a nearby embankment.

One lane was closed on the A4232 northbound from the A4055 to B4267 at the Leckwith interchange while police worked to clear the scene.

The road was re-opened within an hour after the incident at 3pm.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “Shortly after 1.15pm today police were called concerning a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision which happened on the northbound A4232 in the Leckwith area of Cardiff.

“A car left the carriageway and came to rest in trees down an embankment. The female driver has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

“The carriageway re-opened shortly before 3pm. Motorists are thanked for their patience while officers dealt with the incident”
