A WELSH language children’s event was hosted by Menter Bro Morgannwg before Christmas.

Nearly 40 children and their parents were entertained by Do-re-mi Canu who brought festive cheer to Palmerston in Barry.

Children were also able to meet Sion Corn (Welsh for Santa Claus), and there was also an arts and crafts session.

The event was sponsored in part by Barry Town Council, through their Vibrant Cultures and Communities Grants.

Mayor of Barry, Councillor Ian Johnson, said: “It was a highly energetic children’s Christmas party with a mix of new and well-known songs from Do-re-mi keeping everybody engaged and participating in the fun.

“Recent years have seen a continued growth in Welsh medium education in Barry, and it was nice to chat with parents who speak Welsh fluently, and with those who were choosing Welsh language education for their children, including parents who were learning Welsh themselves alongside their youngsters.

“It was a really fun community event which was full of hwyl and the Christmas spirit! Thanks to Menter Bro Morgannwg for organising.”
