“I LOVE you, we all do and it won’t change. You defied all odds. They didn’t think you’d make it past one let alone 30!”

That’s the incredible tribute given to lifelong Barry Town supporter Mr Thomas Trickey who died suddenly and peacefully with his family around him on October 20.

Mr Trickey was born with rare disability arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, a condition which involves muscle weakness found throughout the body.

Doctors didn’t think Mr Trickey would make it past one, however he beat the odds in extraordinary fashion, making it to his 30th birthday.

A Go Fund Me page, promoted by Mr Trickey’s beloved Barry Town United, has been set up to help Mr Trickey’s family pay for funeral costs and a memorial.

Incredibly, the page has already smashed its goal of raising £2,500, having raised over £2,800 as we got to publication.

The Go Fund Me page goes into powerful detail about Mr Trickey’s last days.

Organiser of the Go Fund Me page, Effy Pink wrote: “Thomas was rushed into the Heath Hospital A&E at around 9.30am, and was very quickly transferred to the ICU when we were told he would not make it.

“He was taken off a ventilator around 40 minutes after being transferred to the ICU.

“Within minutes Tom peacefully passed on Friday, October 20, 2023.”

Mr Trickey was described as a huge Tottenham Hotspur fan, as well as Barry Town, who loved football, cricket, Fifa and animals.

Barry Town FC wrote on their Facebook page: "We were saddened to lose a great Barry Town supporter last week, our friend Thomas Trickey.

"Tom kept going and marked his 30th birthday earlier this year, spending quite a number of years with us at Jenner Park on matchdays, where he was a loved member of our Barry Town football community."

The fundraiser has been made to help “take a huge weight” off the shoulders of those who are now preparing to give Mr Trickey a final farewell.

Ms Pink wrote: “This fundraiser has been made as my parents do not have the funds to pay for a funeral, as they weren't able to work due to the extent of Tom's disability.

“This (his death) was extremely sudden and unexpected, he was only 30 years old.

“Any donation small or large would be heavily appreciated.”

Ms Pink finished the post with an emotional tribute.

“It’s so real when you lose someone. You have this massive emptiness inside of you. You lose all energy and motivation to do anything. Your house becomes a mess, you barely do anything all day.

"We have so many random moments thinking back to the last time we saw you and we start to cry.

“Tom Trickey I love you, we all do and it won’t change. You defied all odds. They didn’t think you’d make it past one! Let alone 30!”
