IF you happened to be walking along the coast of the Vale yesterday you might have spotted not one, but TWO NATO Warships making their way down the channel.

NATO Warships ORP Kontradmiral Xawery Czernicki (511) and HNLMS Zierikzee (M862) were photographed off the coast of Rhoose.

According to marinetraffic.com the ships made their way from Cardiff and were, as of writing, off the Ceredigion coast near Aberystwyth.

Three ships arrived in Cardiff over the weekend.

Along with ORP Kontradmiral Xawery Czernicki, a Polish minesweeper, and HNLMS Zierikzee, a Dutch minesweeper, the FGS Bad Bevensen (M1063), a German minesweeper, all berthed in the capital at Britannia Quay, Cardiff Bay.

It’s not the first time vessels composed for war have been seen lurking around the Vale.

In June, extraordinary photos of a Walrus-class submarine, operated by the Royal Netherlands Navy, were taken off the pier at Penarth.

The submarine, HNLMS Zeeleeuw (S803), was accompanied by a A900 submarine support and torpedo recovery ship.
