A BARRY business has been recognised as the best takeaway in Wales – for the second year in a row.
Kalimirch is an Indian takeaway based on Broad Street Parade in Barry which has won ‘regional takeaway of the year – Wales’ at the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards (ARTA) for the second consecutive year.
The winners of ARTA 2023, which celebrates pan-Asian cuisine in the UK, were announced at a recent award ceremony in London which was hosted by TV presenters Samantha Simmonds and Paul Martin.
Food venues were awarded based on three key factors:
- Quality of food;
- Quality of service;
- Value for money.
This was followed by the ARTA score which focuses on food hygiene rating and online reviews on websites such as TripAdvisor and Google.
Staff at Kalimirch are "over the moon" to have won this award and have thanked everyone who voted for the venue.
Kalimirch in Barry has a four (good) food hygiene rating, with it last inspected on January 6, 2022, according to the Food Standards Agency website.
While the venue was rated “good” for hygienic food handling, plus cleanliness and conditions of facilities and buildings, it was rated “generally satisfactory” for management of food safety.
So how does the venue fare in reviews?
