A Wilko store in Barry is due to close next week after staff were left in the dark for a month after stores across the country began to close.

The store on Holton Road will officially close on Monday, September 25 after a month of uncertainty about the retailer's future.

The high street chain entered administration last month and started its closure process last week.

The store in Barry will be the last to close in the area as three Cardiff stores are already shut.

Earlier this month it was announced that all stores in Cardiff will close, but the store in Barry was safe from closure.

Administrators said on Tuesday, that 111 more stores will serve customers for a final next week, with 36 stores to close alongside the Holton Road store.
