A MAN has been charged after a car flipped causing a scene of destruction on a Barry residential road over the weekend.

You're supposed to ease into Sunday mornings, however photos show a car flipped onto its roof and a number of parked vehicles smashed up on St Pauls Avenue.

Emergency services were called to the incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Now, police say a 20-year-old man from Rumney has been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis following the crash.

Fire crews from Barry and Ely Fire Station attended the scene at just before 4am.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “At approximately 3.57am on Sunday, July 30, we received reports of a road traffic collision on St Paul’s Avenue, Barry.

“Crews from Barry and Ely Fire Station attended the scene, alongside emergency services colleagues.

“A stop message was received at approximately 4.30am.”

On Facebook, one of the residents commented: “There’s lots of debris and glass everywhere so just be cautious.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said the ambulance service did receive a call about the incident, however they were subsequently stood down.

Police now say a man has been charged.

On the incident, a South Wales Police spokesperson said: “Mason Brandon Lee Rashid, 20, from Rumney, has been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis following a road traffic collision in St Paul’s Avenue, Barry, during the early hours of Sunday, July 30.

“He is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on September 5.”
