A VALE gin bar has been recognised in a prestigious international award program.

Last year Gin 64, on Penarth’s Victoria Road, was awarded Corporate Livewire Prestige Awards’ Gin Bar of the Year in Wales, and guess what - they’ve done it again this year!

Gin 64 is one of those businesses that makes the town special, being one of the only independent bars in the area to operate seven days a week.

In March, Gin 64 released its revolutionary new menus which contained plant seeds in the paper. The aim was to help the environment, with the menus able to be reused and put in the ground, or a pot, to grow luscious garnishes for your drinks.

Now, Gin 64 has been named the best gin bar in Wales.

The Corporate Livewire Prestige Awards recognise small and medium-sized businesses that have proven to be the best in their market over the past 12 months.

The judging panel base their decisions on areas such as service excellence, quality of the product, service provided, innovative practices, value, ethical or sustainable methods of working, as well as consistency in performance.

Winning the award means Gin 64 will be featured in the latest Wales Prestige Guide, which will be available to all Corporate LiveWire subscribers and reach over 30,000 readers.

Owner Jacques Aviles said the hard work the bar is doing isn’t going unnoticed.

“It’s great to be recognised for the second year running because it shows our service has not dropped over the last 12 months,” said Mr Aviles.

“You could win it one year and become complacent, but it’s nice that we have kept up the high standards we set ourselves and won again. It’s nice to know our hard work and ethical values is appreciated. The work we are doing here is not going unnoticed.”

Gin 64 is holding gin-tasting events in the last Thursday of every month with independent and world-renowned distilleries to help broaden its clientele’s taste and knowledge of all things gin.

The next event is July 27, with Whitley Neill showcasing their range. Tickets and upcoming tasting events can be found at www.gin64penarth.co.uk.
