FOUR businesses in the Vale of Glamorgan have been shortlisted in The Wales Food and Drinks Awards.

The Wales Food and Drink Awards are back for 2023 with numerous Welsh businesses shortlisted in 15 categories.

The Wales Food and Drink Awards – not to be confused with The Food Awards Wales – return for their second year, with the winners to be announced at a ceremony in Venue Cymru, Llandudno, on May 18.

Barratt’s Fine Meats in Barry

Barratt’s Fine Meats, in Barry, is among the finalists for a ‘Business Resilience Award’ which is sponsored by Ambition North Wales.

“This award recognises those companies which react quickly to the changing global and financial situations to survive and indeed thrive.”

Barratt’s Fine Meats is a finalist in this category, up against:

Antony Ockwell (Barratt’s Fine Meats in Barry)

Antony Ockwell, of Barratt’s Fine Meats in Barry, is among the finalists for ‘Apprentice of the Year’ which is sponsored by Ambition North Wales.

“The Wales F&D Apprentice award is open to individuals who are currently on an apprentice scheme in the F&D sector.”

Antony Ockwell is a finalist in this category, up against:

Bettina Skovbro (Brød - The Danish Bakery)

Bettina Skovbro, of Brød - The Danish Bakery in Penarth and Cardiff – is among the finalists for ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ which is sponsored by The Food and Drink Wales Industry Board.

“The Wales F&D Entrepreneur award will recognise those individuals who have shown the desire to succeed with their own ideas and have had the ambition to turn those ideas into a successful business.”

Bettina Skovbro is a finalist in the category, up against:

  • Danny Curtis - Lobster and Môr;
  • Richard Abbey - Do Goodly Foods;
  • Steve West - The Pudding Compartment.

Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen (Cowbridge):

Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen, in Cowbridge, is among the finalists for ‘Farm to fork producer’ sponsored by BC Investment.

“This category will showcase what you are doing to diversify within the Welsh agricultural sector and adapt to the market.”

Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen is a finalist in this category, up against:
