A HOUSING developer is offering holding deposits of under £100 for homes in the Vale.

Barratt Developments South Wales has announced that a number of its new builds are now available to reserve for a holding fee of just £99.

It’s all part of an early access benefit for Barratt Developments buyers at Parc Fferm Wen in St Athan — who will be able to secure homes before they become available as part of the extended Help to Buy Wales scheme on April 1.

Since its launch in January 2014, Help to Buy Wales has helped 13,405 buyers purchase a new-build home — of which, nearly 80 per cent were first-time buyers stepping onto the property ladder for the first time.

The Help to Buy Wales scheme, which assists prospective homeowners with their purchase of a new-build property, has been extended in Wales until 2025 — introducing a higher price cap of £300,000 on properties eligible for the scheme, in line with average house prices in Wales.

As a result, homes are now available to secure for just £99.

Richard Lawson, sales director at Barratt Developments South Wales, said the scheme had come at a great time.

“The extension of Help to Buy in Wales couldn’t have come at a better time with so many exciting new developments coming to South Wales,” said Mr Lawson.

“We hope the scheme will be especially beneficial to first-time buyers and that with the support of leading housebuilders like ourselves, even more buyers will be able to realise their ambition of becoming a homeowner.”
