A PENARTH man was sentenced for attacking a Vale enforcement officer.

Joel Bennett Ringer, of the town’s Salop Street, pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an official working with the Vale Council.

The incident happened in Penarth on August 5 last year.

Ringer, 26, pleaded guilty at Cardiff Magistrates Court on March 2, where he was sentenced.

He was fined £207 and ordered to pay costs of £500, and an £83 victim surcharge.

A Vale Council spokesperson said violence towards anyone on the council is never tolerated.

The spokesperson said: “Joel Ringer was convicted at Cardiff Magistrates Court for assault by beating, after attacking one of our officers in Penarth town centre last year.

“We do not tolerate violence or aggression toward our officers and are grateful to our partners at South Wales Police for their work in this case.”
