A MAN from Barry has pleaded guilty to being in possession of hundreds of indecent images and videos of children.

Phillip Parfit, of the town’s Maes Yr Ysgol, had in his possession almost 800 indecent images and videos of children.

Parfit, who was reported on in the Barry and District News in January, has nine charges to his name including being in possession of grossly offensive videos of an obscene character.

It’s been revealed Parfit had over 70 category A images and videos of children – the most serious class.

He had over 130 images and videos in category B, and a staggering 500 images and videos in category C.

The 69-year-old also admitted making indecent videos and images of children including 22 category B images and two category B videos, and 127 category C images and 88 category C videos.

All offences took place in Barry between April 2020 and May 2022.

Parfit’s case was heard at Cardiff Crown Court today, February 23, where the judge ordered for checks to be made into his health and whether he would withstand custody.

Parfit’s case will next be heard at Cardiff Crown Court on March 3.
