INCIDENTS involving fly-tipping on Barry Island are currently under investigation.

Today (November 16) Vale of Glamorgan Council officers will be investigating a number of fly-tipping incidents in the following areas:

  • Phyllis Street;
  • Amherst Crescent.

Vale of Glamorgan Council has confirmed that the waste in those areas will be removed as soon as possible, adding:

"Enquiries are ongoing and those responsible can expect further action."

It is the householders responsibility to ensure that household waste produced on their property is disposed of at an authorised site.

Householders may be fined up to £5,000 in a magistrates court if they fail to take reasonable measures to check operators are legitimate waste carriers and that waste will be disposed correctly.

  • What type of waste has been dumped;
  • How much waste has been dumped;
  • The location of the waste.
