CARDIFF and Vale University Health Board has relaxed rules regarding face coverings at their sites.

The health board – which covers Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan – has reviewed the situation in hospitals, with cases of Covid in the community declining, and relaxed some of the face covering requirements.

The latest updates:

  • Staff and visitors are no longer required to wear face coverings in non-clinical areas, but they can wear one if they choose. Non-clinical areas include coffee shops and corridors.
  • Medical staff will continue to wear fluid repellent surgical masks when directly delivering patient care in clinical settings.
  • The health board is strongly encouraging staff to continue wearing face coverings in all clinical areas to protect patients and each other.

The health board will continue to review their approach based on “current evidence” and will keep the public updated.
