THE WAIT for the Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show is nearly over.

The Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show, which was first established in 1772, is celebrating its 250th anniversary with the event taking place on Wednesday August 10 from 8.30am to 7.30pm.

The annual event is believed to be one of the biggest of its kind in the area, with tens and thousands of visitors expected on the big day.

The Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show 2022 will be hosted at a new site: a field in Penllyn in Cowbridge and will include:

  • Livestock and horse shows;
  • Farm machinery demonstrations;
  • Vintage tractor display;
  • A large craft fair;
  • A horticultural show;
  • A KC registered dog show;
  • A rabit show;
  • Home produce marquee.

There will also be a central food hall, with largely local produce, and hundreds of stalls offering a range of goods from independent traders.

Classes will run in the main ring from 6.30am until 3pm when there will be a spectacular grand parade of all the prize-winning animals.

The show will conclude with the scurry competition at 5.30pm.

The annual event which is popular among the farming community is held on a Wednesday in August each year, with the 2023 date already confirmed.

Tickets for the 2022 show – when bought in advance – are £12 for adults, £5 for children, or £30 for a family (two adults, two children).

Tickets on the gate will be £15 for adults, £5 for children, or £30 for a family (two adults, two children).
