A YOUNG girl from Barry is shaving her head for a cause close to her heart.

Ten-year-old Maisey Shorney is having more than 18 inches of her long locks chopped to donate to The Little Princess Trust, before shaving the rest of her hair to raise funds for MS Society UK.

“She has a close family member who has been diagnosed with MS,” explained her mum Kiah Shorney.

“She decided to do this to help those suffering with MS and their families and to help educate people on the issues.”

Through braving the shave Maisey will raise money for MS Society UK and her hair will be donated to The Little Princess to be made into a wig for a child facing critical illness.

This is the first time the youngster has carried our solo fundraising, with her colleting donations through sponsorship forms and a JustGiving page online.

Her original target was £250, but she has raised more than £900 ahead of the cut on Sunday, July 31.
