SULLY Sailing Club recently held its novice and junior regatta.

The event - hosted on Sunday, July 3 - was for members of the club who have been improving their sailing this season.

Some quite strong winds led to a number of capsizes but most of the sailors completed all three races of two laps around a course set in Sully Bay.

At the end of the day the junior winner was Pietro Ruta sailing a Topper dinghy taking the Junior Shield.

The winners of the novice section were Michael and Tom Grimes sailing a Topaz Dinghy.

Finally the winner of the adult improver category was Nicholas Dirr in a Laser Dinghy.

Sully Sailing Club is a small friendly club dedicated to dinghy and cat sailors, located in Sully Bay.

The club offers sailing covering a wide variety of performance and skill levels. If you don’t own a boat but are keen to sail they can help: they have a range of club boats (single-handed Lasers and Toppers, single or two person Topazs and an Argo for up to four people) which can be used by members for a small annual fee.

They race every Sunday through the season, with handicap races for both the ‘fast’ and ‘slow’ fleets.
