Barry Wanderers made it six of the best at Blackwood Town Seconds to stay top of South East Wales League Division Eight.

The visitors continued their winning ways thanks largely to a century from Neil Blundell.

The Wanderers won the toss and elected to bat first, but Peter Coleman and Blundell started with caution against the opening bowlers.

However, they quickly got into their stride, going past 100 together for the second time this year.

Both Coleman and Blundell notched up half-centuries before the former was run out for 51.

This brought Abhilash Rammohan to the wicket and he immediately went on the offensive.

Blundell and Abhilash flayed the Blackwood attack to all corners of the ground, and more runs would have been scored but for some very good fielding.

Abhilash departed for a quickfire 21, however, Blundell persevered and brought up his century with a towering six.

He was out for a classy 110 soon after.

The Wanderers middle order continued the aggressive endeavours to bring the final total up to 258-5.

Luke Grant took the new ball and accounted for the dangerous Owen with a wicked outswinger.

Grant, known to frequent Coco’s nightclub, was dancing with great exuberance at this seminal wicket.

Thereafter, the other opener, Weaver, played what he later described as a “resilient” knock.

He accumulated his runs at a less than pedestrian speed, finishing with 18 from the full allocation of overs.

Weaver was taking evident pleasure from the Wanderers' despairing efforts to extract him from the crease.

Wickets were struck at the other end with Blackwood finishing on 121-7.

It was another polished performance in the field by the Wanderers and they stay top of the division with six wins out of seven.

This Saturday, the Wanderers entertain Tredegar who sit seventh in the table with three wins and four defeats to date.
