A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.

HARRY SUNNY HAMONDA, 21, of Magellan Close, Barry, was jailed for 16 weeks, suspended for 18 months, after he pleaded guilty to assault by beating on January 8.

He was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work, made the subject of a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement and must pay £713 in compensation, costs and a surcharge.

STEPHEN AARON HOUGHTON, 25, of Castleton Road, St Athan, was banned from driving for 12 months after he was found guilty after a trial of drug driving with a cannabis derivative in his blood in Bridgend on June 11, 2021.

He was ordered to pay £804 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

CONNAH LACEY, 24, of Gibbonsdown Close, Barry, was ordered to pay £244 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on Holmes Street on April 2.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.

DEAN DAVIES, 28, of Borough Avenue, Barry, was ordered to pay £262 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving while not wearing an adult belt on Redlands Road, Penarth, on October 25, 2021.

IAN WAYNE MCDONNELL, 33, of Clos Y Cadno, Penarth, was jailed for four months, suspended for 18 months, after he admitted failing to stop after an accident on Dryden Terrace, Barry, causing criminal damage to a Ford Fiesta and Mazda car, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

He was ordered to complete an alcohol treatment requirement, a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement, banned from driving for six years and pay £213 in costs and a surcharge.

DAVID ANTHONY HARVEY, 41, of Elizabeth Avenue, Barry, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.

BAILEY EDWARDS, 19, of Willow Road, Llanharry, Rhondda Cynon Taf, was ordered to pay £372 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on Ffordd Y Mileniwm, Barry, on March 10.
