POLICE have arrested a man in Barry after seizing cannabis worth an estimated £10,000.

The arrest came after members of the community raised concerns to South Wales Police, suspecting that a man on an electric bike had been dealing drugs in Barry.

A spokeswoman for the force confirmed that an arrest has been made, with the drugs and vehicle seized.

She said: “Following reports from the community of a male on an electric dealing drugs, Barry’s Neighbourhood Policing Team has successfully seized the off-road bike.

“[They also seized] £10K street value of cannabis.”

Cannabis is classed as a class B drug in the UK and is illegal to possess, distribute, sell or grow in the UK.

A person caught with cannabis risks up to five years in prison, an unlimited fine, or both.

Those who are convicted of producing and supplying cannabis - or any Class B drug - risks 14 years in prison, an unlimited fine, or both.
