THE BIGGEST free festival in Barry is returning – after a two-year hiatus.

Cadstock launched in 2009 and grew bigger and better each year for a decade - before being put on hold for two years by the Covid pandemic.

Now, for 2022, the free festival will be back with a bang – taking over Victoria Park in Cadoxton on Saturday, July 16, and Sunday, July 17.

Barry And District News:

There will be a mix of music on offer, including ska, soft rock, mod, metal, and sweet soul music.

Musicians already lined up for Cadstock 2022 include:

  • Stonehouse;
  • Second Chance;
  • Black Jam Circus;
  • Vacant Pistols;
  • Simmerdown;
  • Black Angus;
  • Falling From Grace.

Many of these played at the Keep Cadstock Alive Fundraiser at Barry Island Social Club on February 1 in 2019, which raised money for this year’s show.

Cadstock is hosted by Vale of Glamorgan Parks Department and Friends of Victoria Park and driven by local man, park manager, and festival chairman – Jonathan Greatrex.

Mr Greatrex said: “It’s been two years and it seems like a lifetime, but thanks to the hard work of a great team behind the scenes we can finally say: ‘We’re back!’

“Barry's favourite free music festival Cadstock is back for 2022.

“Stick July 16 and 17 in your diary and make it up to Victoria Park for the party in the park.

“We've missed you all and can't wait to make this the best one ever – let’s get this party going!”

As the name suggests, Cadstock is based on the vibe of Woodstock – the legendary music festival which was hosted in 1969 revolving around the concepts of peace and love.

Barry And District News:

Cadstock is free, flexible, and family-friendly, welcoming all ages, with no restrictions on guests bringing their own food and drink.

In the lead up to the festival this summer people can show support by dropping their counter for Cadstock in the Tesco and Asda community boxes.

Soon music merch will be released for Cadstock 2022 – including the collectors Cadstock t-shirt – with funds raised through sales helping to keep Cadstock alive.
