Tattoo artist Lisa Walker of Inkabella wins Welsh awards

Lisa Walker, who owns Inkabella on Broad Street in Barry, was awarded ‘best tattoo artist’ at the Best of Welsh Business Awards 2022 along with the ‘brilliance award'.

She also won these awards in the 2021 awards, as well as the 'brilliance award' in 2020.

Ms Walker is an accomplished tattoo artist – she did an apprenticeship with Lee Clements in Chameleon (now Chimera Tattoos) before opening a studio in Penarth in 2012.

As she lives in Barry she relocated Inkabella into the town in 2018 - this October the business will celebrate four years in Barry.

“I’m made up to have won these awards,” said Ms Walker.

“I don’t feel like I’m the best in the whole of Wales – there are too many talented tattoo artists about to name one the best, but it was nice to have my work recognised.

“I wasn’t expecting to win again. When they called my name I was so happy, but so nervous; I'm pretty sure I was shaking while receiving the award.

“I'm so so grateful to my clients; they are so lovely and supportive, especially through lockdown.

"They start as clients, but some end up being good friends.

“I'm so lucky to get to do my job and meet great people along the way!”

The ‘best tattoo artist’ award is based on a voting system from the public, while the ‘brilliance award’ involves organisers going through nominees’ work online to choose a winner.

Ms Walker has a range of styles of tattoo work she offers at Inkabella in Barry.

She particularly enjoys comic book related work, and her portfolio also includes:
