A MAN from Barry has completed a gruelling 1,352.8 mile scooter ride to John O'Groats and back to raise money for Sarcoma UK.

Jason Ude, 51, participated in the endurance challenge so he could raise money in memory of his friend, Sean Gannon.

Mr Gannon died from sarcoma, a cancer that attacks the bone and tissue cells, on Christmas Day 2021.

Mr Ude had taken part in several charity scooter rides previously, raising money for the Welsh Air Ambulance and various cancer charities.

He completed the ride in 13 hours, 25 minutes going up, and 13 hours, 10 minutes coming back.

He began the ride early in the morning on Friday, March 25, and returned on Saturday, March 26.

Mr Ude said: "The weather was great for March and I had a good ride there and back.

"I would like to thank my family, my scooter family from all over the UK and Europe, Sean’s family, friends and work friends for all their donations and support."

The ride has raised £1,540 and has been sent to Sarcoma Uk via a Facebook fundraiser.

However, some money is still set to come in.
