THE OPENING acts for Barry Arts Festival 2022 have been announced.

The highly acclaimed City of Cardiff Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Martin McHale, will bring orchestral classical music – including Mozart and Dvorak - to Barry.

They will perform at the new state-of-the-art concert space in Whitmore High School on Tuesday, April 12.

Folk duo, Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman, will also perform as part of the festival.

Barry And District News:

They’ve performed together for more than 20 years - Billboard magazine said that Kathryn Roberts’ “smoky assertive vocals are a tasty feast for listeners craving music that requires a sharp mind and an open heart” while Mojo magazine called Sean Lakeman “one of the unsung heroes of modern British folk.”

They will perform at St Mary’s Church, on Holton Road, on Friday, May 13.

Barry Arts Festival organiser, Dot Connell, said: “We’re pleased to be moving back to normal with two special events to kick off the 2022 season – from the City of Cardiff Symphony Orchestra and the exceptional folk duo, Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman.

“All of last year’s events sold out, so we’re hoping to see more enthusiasm from the Barry public for high quality artistic events. Come along and enjoy yourselves!

“We are very grateful to Barry Town Council and Newydd Housing Association for their continued support of the arts in Barry.”
