THERE has been one more Covid-related death in the Cardiff and Vale area as cases across Wales continue to rise.

The death means that 928 people have died in the area since the pandemic first started.

Including that death, there have been four deaths in all of Wales bring the death toll to 7,070.

Cases appear to be creeping up across Wales, with 2,566 new cases reported including residents outside Wales.

The Vale of Glamorgan has reported 116 new cases while Cardiff has 281.

Despite having the most new cases in Wales, the case rate in Cardiff is below the average for Wales (79.5 cases per 100,000 people).

Cardiff's case rate is 76.6 cases per 100,000 people, while the Vale has a rate of 86.8 cases per 100,000 people.
