THE latest data from Public Health Wales shows that the Vale of Glamorgan has the highest Covid case rate in Wales.

In the Vale there are 51.7 positive cases per 100,000 people, which is high above the average for Wales which is 35.1 cases per 100,000 people.

By contrast, nearby Cardiff has 33.3 positive cases per 100,000 people.

Despite having a lower case rate than the Vale, Cardiff has recorded 122 new cases while the Vale has recorded 69 new cases.

In total, Wales has recorded 1, 141 new cases including residents outside of Wales.

Six more people in Wales have died, putting the death toll at 7,039.

None of the new deaths occurred in the Cardiff and Vale area.
