THE latest Covid figures from Public Health Wales show that 16 more people have died including one from the Cardiff and Vale area.

The death toll for Wales now stands at 7,033 and 924 people have died in the Cardiff and Vale area since the pandemic began.

Over three days there have been 161 new cases in the Vale of Glamorgan, just fewer than half of new cases found in Cardiff (330).

There are 2,628 new cases in all of Wales including residents outside of Wales.

Despite having less than half of the new cases that Cardiff has had, the case rate in the Vale is significantly higher than the rate in the capital city.

The Vale of Glamorgan has a case rate of 120.5 cases per 100,000 people - the second highest in Wales.

Meanwhile, Cardiff has a case rate of 89.9 cases per 100,000 people, which is still higher than the Welsh average of 81.2.

It is worth bearing in mind that these rates are the result of three days worth of data.
