HALF term is next week and there’s plenty of fun in store in Barry.

Here are just a few fun ideas to keep your little ones happy.

Winter of fun

Beach Academy Wales is helping deliver events for the ‘winter of fun’ with some Barry events coinciding with the half term.

The weekend ahead of half term a whale trail will be at Whitmore Bay from 10.30am to midday, then from 12.30pm to 2pm, on Saturday, February 19. And it will be at Porthkerry Country Park from 11.30am to 1pm on Sunday, February 20.

On Saturday, February 26, there will be seashell discovery at Porthkerry Country Park. Children can learn about the top 20 shells and the animals which made them between 10am and 11.30am.

Fonmon Castle

Families can have a roarsome time at this Barry castle, dating back to the 12th century, with the dinosaur exhibition – including the animatronic raptor pit – open throughout February half term.

Children can enjoy an interactive story trail about two youngsters saving a castle from a fierce dragon, wandering onto the Mad Hatter’s Garden. There’s also pirate adventure, a medieval farm, fairy kingdom, agility trails, playgrounds and more.

Go to the farm

Meet the animals at Amelia Trust Farm on, Five Mile Lane in Barry, this half term.

  • Children aged 5+ can meet the ponies at 2.30pm on February 21, February 23, and February 25.
  • 2.30pm sessions to meet the goats will be at 2.30pm on February 22 and February 24.

Laser tag

Young ones can unleash their inner fighter at Barry Island Quasar throughout half term – with all day play (10am-5pm) for £15 from February 21 to February 27. Guarantee your place by calling 01446 421611.
