JUST under 1,500 new cases and further death have been recorded across Wales in the latest Public Health Wales figures.
1,495 new Covid cases, including 77 in the Vale of Glamorgan, were recorded in the 24 hours up to 9am on Friday.
The Vale saw the sixth highest rise in cases in Wales across that 24-hour period.
Also in the health board region, Cardiff saw a rise of 235 new cases - the highest in Wales.
Wales’ rolling weekly case rate, for the week up to February 7, is now 379 per 100,000 people.
The Vale of Glamorgan (392.3) currently has the seventh highest case rate in Wales.
Cardiff's case rate (445.6) is the second highest in Wales, behind only Carmarthenshire (563.1).
