A WOMAN with fibromyalgia has written and published a book about the condition.

Linda Winning-Wyatt is a mother, grandmother, and a sufferer of fibromyalgia – a long-term invisible condition which causes pain all over the body.

According to the NHS, as well as widespread pain, people with fibromyalgia may also have:

  • increased sensitivity to pain
  • extreme tiredness (fatigue)
  • muscle stiffness
  • difficulty sleeping
  • problems with mental processes (known as "fibro-fog"), such as problems with memory and concentration
  • headaches
  • irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

Ms Winning-Wyatt once owned a cleaning business, working most days between 10 and 12 hours, but when fibromyalgia took its hold, everything changed.

She now helps support people with the condition as part of Cardiff and Vale Fibrofighters, who recently launched a book - Fibromyalgia and Me a Charity Perspective – through Olympia Publishers.

Barry And District News:

The book aims to offer clarity on fibromyalgia, offering general information about the condition, along with stories outlining what it’s like to live with the condition, and contact information for support services.
