A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.

NATASHA BARRY, 25, of Cora Street, Barry, was banned from driving for 12 months after she pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen at Cardiff Bay police station on October 29.

She was ordered to pay £395 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

WILLIAM MICHAEL BROWN, 58, of Esgid Mair, Barry, was ordered to pay £319 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he admitted assault by beating on July 25.

STEFAN BJEGOVIC, 39, of Main Street, Barry, was sentenced to a 12-month community order after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer on September 26.

He was ordered to complete an 18-day rehabilitation activity requirement, made the subject of a 120-day alcohol abstinence requirement and must pay £280 in compensation, costs and a surcharge.

LEE ADRIAN HOPKINS, 38, of Pendine Close, Barry, was jailed for 24 weeks, suspended for 18 months, after he was found guilty of driving while disqualified on Skomer Road on August 12.

He will have to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work, complete 19 days of an enhanced thinking skills programme and a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

Hopkins was banned from driving for 60 months and ordered to pay £748 in costs and a surcharge.

MARCUS LEE TAYLOR, 40, of Vincent Close, Barry, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.

MATTHEW SHRIMPTON, 47, of Lynmouth Drive, Sully, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

JAMES THOMAS INCH, 40, of Fairford Street, Cadoxton, Barry, was banned from driving for 42 days for driving without insurance on Fford Y Mileniwm on December 31, 2020.

He was ordered to pay £852 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

IAN CHRISTOPHER VANANDA, 49, of Tyndall Street, Butetown, Cardiff, was sentenced to a 12-month community order after he pleaded guilty to assault by beating in Holton Road, Barry, and stealing a handbag worth £6 from Peacocks in the town on October 13.

He must complete a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement and pay £215 in a fine and a surcharge.
