A SCHEME allowing the public to send Christmas cards at a cheap price has been cancelled this year.

Scout Post gives the public of Cardiff and most parts of the Vale of Glamorgan the opportunity to send Christmas cards at a cheaper price than other postal services.

It has been operating for more than 35 years, with hundreds and thousands of cards hand sorted and delivered by Scouts members and volunteers but – for the second year running – Scout Post has been cancelled.

Julian Jordan, Area Commissioner for Cardiff and Vale Scouts said: “We have concerns for our Scout Groups and volunteers being able to sort and deliver the post so have made the decision not to run the scheme this year.

“Scout Post brings in around £150k each year to support Scouting in our 50+ groups with 4,000 members.

“This needed income helps to run our adventurous programme and the upkeep of our buildings and transport.”

Cardiff and Vale Scouts are calling on the public to help them raise funds which would normally be raised through Scout Post.

People can donate at localgiving.org/appeal/Scoutpost2021/ where they can specify a group for their donation to be allocated to.
