A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.

LLOYD THOMAS, 21, of Bridge Street, Barry, was jailed for 23 weeks after he pleaded guilty to being unfit to drive through drink, possession of cocaine, driving whilst disqualified and being in breach of a suspended prison sentence.

He banned from driving for 28 months and ordered to pay £213 in a surcharge and costs.

GARETH JAMES GORE, 42, of Dobbins Road, Barry, was ordered to pay £224 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving whilst not wearing an adult belt at Cadoxton Primary School, Victoria Park Road, on April 22.

SAFFRON LAWES, 25, of Rhodfa Seabright, Barry, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after she failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

Her driving record was endorsed with six points.

HARRISON REES-DAVIES, 26, of Commercial Road, Barry, was ordered to pay £244 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on West Terrace, Penarth, on August 22.

His driving record was endorsed with eight points.

MARTYN REEVES, 55, of, Bron Awelon, Barry, was ordered to pay £239 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving whilst not wearing an adult belt at Sant Curig Primary School, Butrills Road, on April 23.

JAMES REES, 37, of Heol Y Sianel, Rhoose, was banned from driving for six months for driving without due care and attention and driving without insurance on Port Road on April 12 He was ordered to pay £319 in fines, costs and a surcharge.

KEVIN SMITH, 49, of Maes Yr Ysgol, Barry, was banned from driving for six months after he failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

He was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

CHRISTOPHER BLANKS, 41, of Broadmead Park, Newport, was jailed for 12 weeks, suspended for two years, after he was found guilty of assault by beating in Barry.

He has to complete a 35-day thinking skills programme, a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement and pay £428 in costs and a surcharge.
