A THUG who threw a mop bucket full of dirty water over woman's head after she rejected his advances has been jailed.

Lewis Drew, 31, from Barry, was arrested in Penarth when his terrified victim ran towards police officers.

The defendant, who has a history of violence, had also sprayed her with car cleaner and stabbed her in the chin with a key.

At Cardiff Crown Court, the judge, Recorder Dyfed Llion Thomas, told Drew: “You were calling her names that were demeaning to her.

“You used physical violence that caused her to fall into a Wendy House and you picked up a mop bucket that had been used to clean up animal urine and you threw it at her.

“In Penarth, you made threats to kill her by snapping her neck.

“Your victim said she has never been so scared in her whole life.”

Recorder Thomas added: “You also assaulted her with a blunt key and sprayed her with car cleaner.

“You have a poor record for violence against people, against property and for dishonesty.”

Drew, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to putting a person in fear of violence by harassment and two counts stealing a car.

The court heard he had 25 previous convictions for offences including assault, harassment, threats to kill and breaching restraining orders.

David Pinnell, representing Drew said in mitigation how his client wanted no further contact with the complainant in the future.

The defendant was jailed for two years and four months and will serve half that sentence before being released on licence.
