A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court.

THOMAS HODGES, 34, of Barry Road, Barry, was sentenced to a 12-month community order after he admitted having an offensive weapon – a knuckleduster – in public and possession of cannabis on December 4, 2020.

He must complete a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement and pay £430 in a fine, costs and a surcharge.

ZAC REED, 25, of St Catherine's Court, Barry, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he failed to give information relating to the identification

of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.

TROY RUDD, 26, of Amroth Court, Barry, was ordered to pay £594 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for driving without insurance on May 2.

His driving record was endorsed with eight points.

HELEN HART, 30, of Jenner Street, Barry, was ordered to pay £184 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by gathering in private without reasonable excuse on February 6.

BRIDIE MALONE, 18, of Kier Hardie Crescent, Newport, was ordered to pay £184 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for breaching coronavirus restrictions by being in Highbridge Close, Sully, without reasonable excuse on February 5.

RONNIE MERCELSANCA, 25, of Aylesbury Crescent, Birmingham, was ordered to pay £234.01 in a fine, compensation and a surcharge after he pleaded guilty to making off without paying for £50.01 worth of diesel from PW Millar Ltd in Barry on July 31.

PAUL MICHAEL DAVID, 33, of Scott Close, St Athan, was jailed for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months, after he admitted driving whilst disqualified on Leckwith Road, Cardiff, on July 30.

He was banned from driving for 14 months and must complete a 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

David was also ordered to pay £213 in costs and a surcharge.

SCOTT DEAN OWEN, 50, of Sea Point, Barry, was ordered to pay £319 in a fine, costs and a surcharge for failing to stop after an accident on Park Avenue/Romilly Park Road on May 21.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.

JOHN LENNEY, aged 78, of Pencoedtre Road, Barry, was ordered to pay £816 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he failed to give information relating to the identification

of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

His driving record was endorsed with six points.

SEAN DANIEL LEWIS, 40, of Vere Street, Barry, was ordered to pay £159 in a fine, costs and a surcharge after he pleaded guilty to possession of diazepam, a class C drug, on August 2.
