TWO individuals from Cardiff and Vale scouts have been honoured for their outstanding community volunteering.

The Silver Wolf Award, under Good Service Awards is the highest accredited achievement made by The Scout Association, for individuals who have given exceptional service to scouting.

Silver Wolf has remained the 'unrestricted gift' of the Chief Scout Bear Grylls.

This year the recipients from Cardiff and the Vale Scouts are Marilyn Hendricksen and Jeremy Ray, who have given outstanding service to the Scouting community in South Wales.

MORE NEWS:

Both Marilyn and Jeremy have been selected because of their generous commitment to the scouting community, which totals a combined number of 90 years.

Even through the trials of the pandemic both recipients have noted the persistence and adaptability of scouting through digital means.

Both have been persistent in engaging with their role and scouting groups but are looking forward to seeing everyone in person.

Marilyn and Jeremy have also encouraged the need for more volunteers for scouting as we move out of the pandemic - powerfully noting that there is something for everyone and giving this service will open your mind and heart.
