MEMBERS of Extinction Rebellion (XR) Furness have taken to the streets of London and Manchester to urge radical action from politicians on climate change.
The south Cumbria environmental group took part in major demonstrations, coming together with other branches of the movement.
XR Furness also staged a colourful protest at Barrow MP’s Cavendish Street office earlier this week. The series of events were planned to coincide with MPs’ return from their summer break as activists blockaded streets around Parliament in a bid to return climate change to the top of the political agenda.
South Lakes resident Wendi Lethbridge, who took part in the demonstrations, said: “We will not take our foot off the gas. We must keep up the pressure on our MPs and in rebellion against this corrupt Government.”
