AN AMATEUR dramatic group from Barry have wowed judges in a national drama contest to bag three individual and one group award.

BillBoard Ensemble impressed representatives of NODA, the National Operatic and Dramatic Association, and all three of the leading ladies in its July 2019 production of ‘9 to 5 The Musical’ won plaudits.

Best individual performance awards went to Angelique Duff, Rebecca Hennessey and Lois Banks and the company took the best pantomime for its production of Cinderella.

BillBoard Ensemble is a non-profit organisation.

Any profit made from any show is ploughed straight back into the next production.

Billboard founder and director, Jonathan Coombs said: “BillBoard are extremely proud that we continue to receive such raving reviews from NODA representatives.”

NODA is the national body that represents amateur theatre and any amateur theatre society can become a member.

NODA’s mission is to support the education and information needs of individuals and organisations with high quality services and products that contribute to the success of amateur theatre as well as encouraging appreciation of the sector by participants and audiences alike.

Mr Coombs added: “2020 has been a whirlwind for us all.

“Productions have been postponed until 2021 and all rehearsals have been cancelled for the foreseeable future, but it isn’t all doom and gloom.

“BillBoard is humbled by the unbelievable amount of support that we get from our local community.

“We are so proud of how the company has grown from strength to strength over the years and we are so excited to see all of our audience members, old and new, in 2021 for our 25th anniversary celebrations.”
