A SCOOTER rider has been given special permission to by-pass Wales' coronavirus lockdown measures and visit England and Scotland to raise important charity funding.
Forty-nine-year-old Jason Ude, of Barry, took part in the 3 Nation Capital Charity Scooter Run 2020 this month (June) which first saw him travel from Cardiff Castle to Trafalgar Square, in London, in aid of Breast Cancer Now.
From London, the Distant Echo Scooter Club member rode his Vespa GTS 250 to Edinburgh Castle, in Scotland, then back down to Cardiff Castle visiting the three capital cities of the UK.

Mr Ude said: “It was a total of 956.5 miles ridden on the scooter with breaks only to re-fuel eat drink and use the toilet and this was done in 19 hours 20 minutes.
“My task was to do it in 24 hours or under.
“The charity is for Breast Cancer Now which is a charity very close to my heart and I raised £1219 and am very happy about that.
“It was a tough ride and the preparation was hard as well having to contact the Welsh, English, and Scottish parliaments to get permission to do this run whilst on lockdown,” he added.
“I am making plans for my next charity run already and the date is to be confirmed.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to all my family friends and scooter clubs from all over the UK and Europe who donated and kept me going through the difficult times with nice messages sent when I was stopping and checking in.
“Also, a big thank you to Tony Bryant, of The Lambretta Club Of Wales, and Steve and Tracy Goodfellow, of O’Neil Signs, Cheshire, for their sponsorship, Patterson’s Performance Bikes for checking over my scooter before the run, and all the staff at Breast Cancer Now for sorting out the link so I could set up a donation page on Facebook.
“All the money donated went direct to the charity so it was less stress for me dealing with the money raised.”
