PEOPLE wanting to get their home improvement fix can head to LBS Builders Merchants as the company opens its 26th outlet in Barry on Monday, June 15.
The largest independent builders’ merchants in South Wales will open a flagship branch on the Ty Verlon Trading Estate.
LBS Builders Merchants was awarded UK’s Best Independent Builders Merchant at the Builders Merchants Awards for the fifth year running in 2019.
It is celebrating its 89th year with the acquisition and opening of its furthest east branch in Wales.

The fully-refurbished site, off Cardiff Road, will consist of a builders’ merchant, a Total Plumbing outlet and a large, impressive kitchen and bathroom showroom.
Founded in 1931, the Welsh business continues to grow across South Wales and consists of 17 Builders Merchant Branches; 10 Total Plumbing Centres; 11 Kitchen and Bathroom showrooms; a specialist Civils business; a dedicated roofing merchant; Talbot Timber: a timber and roof truss supplier and manufacturer; and a Home and Garden Centre.
The Barry site represents another significant investment for the family-owned company.
The company has completed a full restructure of the shop, warehouse and yard, with new IT systems to offer award-winning levels of customer service.
A wide product range, a large stock holding and new fleet of vehicles will ensure the site can meet the needs of both trade and retail customers.
The company has created more than 15 new positions to begin with at the site, filled by people from the local area.
More vacancies will be created once the branch opens and the team grows.
The team in Barry will join 380 other staff at the company.
LBS has a strong history in delivering building products in South Wales, and the addition of the branch in Barry represents further expansion, developing awareness and a greater presence throughout South Wales.
