A SECONDARY school has continued its quest to produce and deliver visors and face mask strain relief brackets to hospitals and nursing homes in Barry.

Whitmore High School’s design, technology team has made 720 visors and 600 face mask strain relief brackets throughout the Vale of Glamorgan and the University Hospital of Wales ICU B3 ward, in Cardiff.

Staff have also delivered to Barry nursing homes with College Fields, Springbank, Cartref Porthceri, Channel View, Island View, and Bethel House among them.

The team also encountered Welsh Ambulance on a call and managed to give them 30 visors to take away.

They made two trips to Llandough Hospital, on Wednesday April 29, delivering visors and face mask brackets to the occupational therapy team.

Whitmore High School assistant head teacher and raising standards KS4 wellbeing and attainment, Mark Kennedy said: “They were all smiles and extremely grateful.

“We should be the grateful ones, then onto West wards 1 and 2.

“Flying visit back to Whitmore School, we picked up the rest of the visors and brackets and a drop off at the Sam Davies Ward, Barry Hospital before our final delivery to East Wards 2 and 4 at Llandough Hospital.”

Mr Kennedy added: “Our design technology team have surpassed all our expectations and we are extremely privileged to have them as teachers in our school - Allen, Ian, John and Mark."
