THE Vale council has announced that to support social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic that a number of its car parks, parks and play areas will close from Tuesday, March 24.
All Barry Island, Penarth's Cosmeston and Barry's Porthkerry Country Parks car parks will close.
Penarth Pier is included as are all Vale council-owned beach car parks.
The measures also include all gated parks, play areas, and public toilets.
Anyone leasing a Barry Island beach hut - with an annual permit - will only be charged the pro rata amount.
Paget Road and Friars Road, in Barry Island, will be closed for parking - and there will be access only.
Crowds flocked to public open spaces to be outdoors, over the weekend of March 21 to March 22, with social distancing advice flouted.
