FOLLOWING huge demand for a Cadbury Dairy Milk Barry Island chocolate bar the range has extended to embrace a Mother’s Day and Welsh language theme.

Chocolate lovers can treat their mums and also taste greetings in Welsh after King Square post office postmaster, Vimal Kabaria sourced the new products which also celebrate Easter.

Mr Kabaria introduced the be-spoke named confectionary as a way of people shopping local, but so far customers have also travelled from Cardiff and other parts of South Wales.

He said: “The Barry Island chocolate bars have gone a lot better than expected.

“People had an attachment to Barry and Barry Island long before Gavin & Stacey.

“It’s different – it’s something that hasn’t been seen before.

“So, off the back of that we have taken on new ideas now based on the Barry Island bars and there’s a lot of new things to be added.

“I’ve been talking to Cadbury and we now have a ‘happy birthday’ bar and a ‘thank you’ bar all in Welsh and we are doing Mother’s Day.

“It made sense to do a Mother’s Day design and let’s face it, who doesn’t enjoy a bar of chocolate?

“It’s just a nice gesture and a novelty gift to put with your Mother’s Day card.”

The name and occasion bars cost £4.99 while the Barry Island bar retails at £5.99.

Mr Kabaria is inviting people to suggest ideas for what names or greetings could be something for Cadbury to consider.

The post office is open Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 5.30pm.
