FULL-TIME: Raiders 2 (Belmonte 58, Corbett 90) Dudley Sports 2 (Tibbetts 15, Hendricks 67)

GEORGE Corbett forced in a 90th-minute leveller to rescue a point for off-colour Raiders against cellar dwellers Dudley Sports.

Karl Gormley's men, denied action for more than two weeks by the weather, put in the effort and dominated play but looked a little too rusty to make the best of it.

Sports broke occasionally but carried a threat each time, particularly through ex-Bromsgrove Sporting playmaker Will Tibbetts who scored one and set up the other.

Kyle Belmonte had levelled with a fizzing low 20-yard strike in between and while that looked in vain, Corbett made sure from point-blank range when a recycled corner was headed towards his own goal by Dudley defender Joe Hanson.

Raiders began brightly enough on a zippy 3G surface with play well worked into captain Kirk Layton to swing narrowly high and wide from 20 yards.

Paul Smith's inswinging free-kick from the left got caught in the feet of James Baldwin at the near post and Layton picked up a pass following a well-crafted move but Jamie Parker blocked his shot on the swivel.

A decent opening went begging when Smith got his shot all wrong from the short-corner routine that followed and despite the bright start, Raiders fell behind in the 15th minute.

Tibbetts picked up possession on the right, jetted into the area and fired high across Dan Norcott into the top far corner with a pinpoint bolt from the blue.

Raiders optimism was punctured by the goal until Dan Flowers fired in a couple of low centres that were a fraction away from being converted, the first via a sliced Jason Walters clearance.

Belmonte could not create a telling header from Smith's swirling ball to the back post but while the hosts kept probing down the sides, Dudley looked relatively comfortable.

An inviting Zaq Hussain corner was headed into the gloves of Ryan Pratt at the far post on the stroke of half-time by Ryan Rowe.

There was still time for Tibbetts to pick up a half-cleared ball on the edge of the box with his effort dipping narrowly over at the end of a frustrating half for Raiders.

The second half started with a scare as Ali Elkossi was found with a low pass at the near post with Alex Marsh dashing across to cover.

Raiders kept plugging away and levelled just before the hour mark in stylish fashion.

Quick thinking saw Baldwin guide across the box for Belmonte to take a touch and fire in unerringly off the base of the inside of the post from 20 yards.

Tibbetts threatened to hit straight back from a Joe Finch lay-off, swinging another dipper over via Norcott's strong paw.

And it was another break instigated by Tibbetts that saw Sports pinch the lead once more, springing into life and feeding Ronnie Hendricks to get around Sam Carey on the right and then Norcott to tuck in from a tightening angle.

Hussain wriggled through and hit the post with the rebound cannoning straight into a grateful Pratt's gloves 19 minutes from the end with Raiders switching to a 3-4-3 formation to try to add impetus.

Layton's low cross just evaded substitute Aaron Drake in the centre, while Hendricks might have wrapped up the points when blocked from a tight angle on the left of the box.

Drake could not guide on target with the net gaping after Pratt pushed a high cross up rather than out.

Raiders seemed to have lost momentum but eventually got back on level terms as the clock struck 90.

Luke Molloy's corner hit Jordan Stoddart but he managed to guide back out to the taker with Hanson diverting towards his own net and Corbett lashing in the loose to make certain.

Added time was disrupted by injuries and while Molloy flashed in some inviting corners, Pratt, Parker and Walters were on hand at vital times to seal a share of the spoils.

RAIDERS STAR MAN - KIRK LAYTON

Produced the drive alongside deft, intelligent play while getting around the park.

Linked up promising play to get Raiders into the box on a night that Raiders could not quite find top gear collectively.

Layton edged out Kyle Belmonte for the accolade, whose contribution was almost as telling.

A lovely goal but like many of his colleagues endured a frustrating time trying to break through stubborn opponents, particularly when the hosts were behind.

This was not a terrible display, circumstances may have made it feel that way but had Raiders managed to edge ahead it would have totally changed the outlook of both sides.
