A CHURCH’S all inclusive social group has received a welcome boost thanks to a grant of £1,400 from Colchester Council.
Every week Rowhedge’s Mariners Chapel, in Chapel Street, opens its doors to the anyone who fancies a cuppa, some company or wants to meet new people.
Called The Well, the social meet up started in November and has gone from strength to strength since.
All ages are invited and there is a special area set up each week for babies and toddlers to play and explore.
The area’s Labour ward councillors helped the group secure £1,400 from Colchester Council to allow the church to fund special activities.
Mike Lilley and Adam Fox visited one of the sessions to find out how the grant would help. Pastor of the chapel Simon Heard said: “Our grateful group was able to thank them for the support they have given.”
