Pat Collins was investing in making Barry "The Blackpool of Wales" and so enthused with optimism he footed the principal cost of conveying the town’s supply of electricity to Barry Island for the illuminations.
Today 90 years on the popularity of Barry Island is on the up, maybe a modern description would be bolder, brighter, and unbelievable?
