AN OPPORTUNITY to win a signed clapperboard from the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special has so far seen £8,100 bid on eBay.
Gavin and Stacey co-writer and actress Ruth Jones visited Sully-based Ty Hafan children’s hospice and donated the rare item in the hope that it will help the hospice, which supports life limited children.
Ms Jones, who plays Nessa in the award-winning comedy – which saw more than 11.6m viewers tune in to BBC One on Christmas Day – hopes all the auction proceeds will assist the hospice’s £1.5m refurbishment project.
In a Ty Hafan video, she said: "There is a very special opportunity for you to win a little bit of memorabilia from the Gavin and Stacey special.
“It’s this this rather marvellous clapperboard which has been signed by all of the cast.
“It's a very rare thing and we are going to put it on eBay and auction it in aid of Ty Hafan, which is the most incredible place."
She added: "Ty Hafan is in desperate need of some refurbishment and they are currently trying to raise £1.5m."
In another video, recorded following her first visit, she said: “It was an incredible experience.
“I met some wonderful families and some beautiful children.
“It was incredibly humbling and uplifting and so good to know that there are amazing people in the world trying to make difficult situations a little bit better.”
Ty Hafan is aiming give its young patients a hospice "fit for the future".
Clinical adaptations need to be made and eight family bedrooms,10 care bedrooms, and living and social areas upgraded.
Public support is needed.
